Serbia is expected to rapidly transition its production of energy from fossil fuel to renewable energy. Emergy, along with a local partner, is developing Alibunar, which is the most advanced project in our portfolio and will have an installed capacity of 168 MW. The Banat wind projects (I–V), and the Zabalj PV solar project will have a combined installed capacity of 644 MW. The Serbian locations for the Alibunar, and Banat projects have favourable wind conditions, and good access to seaports, access roads, and transmission lines.
Romania is considered to have one of the greatest potentials for wind energy in continental Europe. Emergy is the sole developer of the Stribog projects, which consists of Baraganu, and Independenta, we have a strong local team consisting of 12-people, and the projects will have a combined installed capacity of 403 MW.
Ukraine installed a record-high amount of new renewable energy capacity during 2019-2021 as part of the target of transitioning away from into a more sustainable energy supply. Prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, we finished the development of the Zophia projects. With its 800 MW, it will be one of the largest onshore projects in Europe. The projects are currently on hold due to the geopolitical situation.
