Serbia is expected to accelerate its transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy over the coming years. Emergy continues to develop the Banat wind projects (I–V) together with the Zabalj PV solar project, representing a combined installed capacity of 644 MW. The Banat projects are located in areas with favourable wind conditions and strong infrastructure access, including transmission lines, roads and nearby seaports.
Romania is considered to have one of the strongest wind energy potentials in continental Europe. Emergy is the sole developer of the Stribog 1 and Stribog 2 projects, with a combined portfolio of 714 MW. Stribog 1 consists of the Baraganu and Independenta projects, located in Constanta, southeast Romania. Stribog 2 consists of the Topraisar, Ulmu and Zavoaia projects, located across southeast Romania. Emergy’s strong local team is leading the development of the full portfolio, which is currently in mid-stage development.
Ukraine installed a record level of new renewable energy capacity between 2019 and 2021 as part of the country’s transition towards a more sustainable energy system. Prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Emergy completed the development of the Zophia projects, which, with a combined capacity of 800 MW, were expected to become among the largest onshore wind projects in Europe. The projects are currently on hold under force majeure conditions. In 2025, with support from the Norwegian Government, Emergy initiated development of the new Perun project, a 300 MW wind project located in the Volyn region in western Ukraine, approximately 70 km from the Polish border.
